Reviews

Overall fantastic - HIGHLY recommend!

"I stayed in December 2014. The fact that I haven’t forgotten this hotel (and to finally write a review) speaks volumes! - Situated in the most beautiful, relaxing beach ever, wade out for meters and meters - Warm service that is subtle, not in your face (if Theint Theint @ Isabella is still the manager, she’s lovely! Please say hello from Anthony!) - Sit by the pool and laze the day away - loved the breakfast buffet (included in hotel price?). And lunch/dinner also very good and well-priced. - quiet! Can’t see or hear any other property/home/etc from inside the property - Great location, walk down the beach 20 minutes to a fishing village and see the catch come in and weighed - quick van ride or use hotel bikes to another small village with local artisan marketplace - short bike ride in the other direction to a small center with more western-ish style shops."

Great location, great rooms and good service

"The hotel is located at one of the best part of the beach, the part without rocks. There are sunbeds with umbrella’s and towels for guests. The only annoying thing was that aome guest already before breakfast put a towel on a bed to claim it and than didnt show up before 12, stayed one hour and left for lunch. It would be good if the hotel took action on this (remove the towel after a certain time and release the bed) as this almost forces other guests to do the same if they want to have a beach bed (which I hate). Breakfast had a lot of options and ther rooms are spacious and very clean in a well maintained tropical garden. The rooms are right behind the main coast road which gives some traffic noise during the day but after 8 pm there is hardly any traffic passing anymore. If you have drinks on the beach and you are on the left side (seen from te sea) it’s closer to walk to the restaurant on the left side of the resort han the resort bar and it’s half the price."

"There is not one bad thing I can say about my stay here at Thande so I'll list all the good things. 1 The staff: so friendly and accommodating. 2 The location: won't find a better spot on the beach. The beach is one of the best and cleanest I have seen in a long time. Pristine clear water this time of year. 3 The hotel: I stayed in one of the rooms with a warning about being close to the main road but I didn't notice any bothersome noise at night. The grounds and buildings are well kept and super clean. Breakfast was great every morning. All in all I will not stay anywhere else when I return to paradise."

Best location, excellent room, fabulous beach
AdrianB144

"We stayed 7 nights at Thande Beach Hotel commencing March 11th 2019. During our stay we walked all of the beach many times looking in at other hotels along the way. In short we were delighted with our choice. The hotel is about a third of the way down from the north end of the main Ngapali beach which is the most southern of the 3 bays. It is by far the longest beach, about one and a half miles long, and has the most hotels but it always looked virtually empty and there was never the slightest hassle from any of the few beach vendors to buy anything. The hotel is ideally placed, at the end of the Rocky section and crucially virtually next door to an excellent beach bar, The Original Sunset View Bar & Restaurant with another crop of beach restaurants about 200 yards further on. There are only two other restaurants on the entire beach, both at the south end a 35 minute hike away. One has copied the name, hence the Original in the title of the real one, but is basically a shack and the other is on a nice islet poking out from the beach but is owned by the Pleasant View Hotel which is reflected in the prices. The importance of the Thande Beach Hotel location near the beach restaurants cannot be overstated unless you are happy to pay hotel restaurant prices at a massive mark up. The hotel has 61 rooms. The front row comprise 6 units of bungalows with two per unit - 12 rooms. They are spacious, good bathrooms, great air con and wi fi with very nice balconies that easily take two fully reclining quality sun beds with a drinks table and a clothes horse to dry stuff. They are less than 25 yds to the beach and a view of the sunset into the ocean. For a modernist they are a bit dated with dark wood floors and panelling but very well maintained with decent lighting and huge front windows facing the ocean. Largely in the gaps between this well spaced front row are 5 further double bungalows, same rooms but the sun loungers are bamboo and do not fully recline. Behind these are 6 blocks of 2 up 2 down apartments, pretty much in line with the front row, designated garden view as the bungalows are between them and the sea. They also had large balconies. Lastly there are @ 20 standard rooms of almost half the size and much smaller with poor views. For the week we were there the rates for the week were 9,8,6 and 5 hundred dollars respectively. The layout overall is very well done with trees and greenery making it attractive. The restaurant is a fairly simple one and all outside at this time of year although there was an indoor one where the kitchen was, presumably for use when things turn sweltering and wet. Breakfast was adequate but not good. A limited choice of fruit, no cold meats, one choice tea or coffee, poorly cooked bacon and something called ham on alternating days, background music and no designated area for or ban on smokers. Given our breakfast experience we never ate dinner at the hotel but at the beach bars instead, which would not have been an option without a trek in the dark or a tuk tuk ride if staying at somewhere further down the beach. Whenever we looked in at the restaurant in the evening it was empty. Staff were great, not unusual for Myanmar, but changed currency for us at the airport and booked our flight back to Yangon without any charge. In summary we would thoroughly recommend the Thande Beach Hotel unless you want a private pool and / or a smart restaurant. The location is unbeatable and the front row rooms excellent with some decent alternative choices. We would certainly stay here again with the hope that breakfast might have improved."

A great hotel at the best location of Ngapali
Cornelia M

Comoros

"I stayed with my friends the third time at this unique hotel. For us the best in Ngapali, the only hotel with llarge rooms facing directly the sea for a reasonable rate. The location is excellent and there is a comfortable access to the sea without scattered rocks like in the south part of Ngapalli. To the right of the hotel along the beach there are two very nice restaurants with excellent food and drinks. They also offer an happy hour. The rooms are spacious with one double and one single bed. We always book the beachfront rooms, but from the rooms in the second row one can see the sea as well. The breakfast is ok, one can sit outside and watch the sea. We also had dinner at the hotel and it was good. The staff is very friendly and helpful, our thanks goes to the whole team and the great cooperation during our stay. The complimentary bus transfer from the airport to the hotel was comfortable and on time. The hotel offers a very good and long happy hour with 50% on drinks till 7.p.m."

A modest but magnificent pearl in the crown of Ngapali !!!

"My wife and I are relaxing at the Thande Beach Hotel! The fifth time we get well in Ngapali, we lived in Amata, Bay Villas, Jade Marina .... Therefore, there is something to compare! Thande, in our opinion, is undeservedly referred to as 3 *, everything is wonderful in the hotel: caring and friendly staff, delicious breakfasts, spacious and comfortable villas, own well-groomed territory, equipped beach with massive wooden sunbeds, thick mattresses and an unlimited number of beach towels! The hotel is located in the center of Ngapali beach! But for some reason no one writes about the most important feature of the hotel! At low tide, a magnificent rock garden, created by nature itself and not by Japanese comrades, arises in front of and to the right of it! A bewitching and solemn spectacle !!! A wonderful hotel, we will certainly return!"

Wow - beyond our expectations on one of the best beaches on Planet Earth!
Schydes

"Ngapali Beach (pronounced "NAH-polee" like Naples, Italy (or Florida...) is one of the best beaches we've been to on the planet. Soft, white, powdery sand. Swimming pool-clear water. This hotel (more like a resort) is on one of the best portions of the beach. No ricks. Sunset views. Walking distance from beach dining and massages (cheap!) just north of the hotel. Friendly staff (or course). They have their own security guys monitoring their own boardwalk and grounds (they really don't need it - Myanmar in general is super safe, especially at a laid-back beach). There are chairs and palapas on the beach. There are more chairs on their own "boardwalk" above the sand and shaded by huge sea grape trees. The beach-front restaurant features a full bar. Excellent breakfast spread with "Western" food as well as Burmese delights that change every day. Good place for lunch or dinner too, if you don't feel like venturing out. ATM on-site. Kayak rentals and snorkel trip booking right on the beach (cheap!). Tuk tuks right outside the resort will take you up and down the strip should you need something. The front desk staff helped us to tell a driver to bring us to a market that sold, in the same place: sun block, liquor, soft drinks, electrolyte packets, and more liquor. Front desk also booked us e-bikes for tooling around the area - very safe for driving. Resort grounds are lush with meandering pathways. We splurged and booked beach-facing bungalow - worth the money. Could watch the sunset from our own private porch. And we did! With liquor! From the market! It was a bit pricey, but supply/demand rules - there are only so many places on the beach! If you spent all the time to travel here, GET WHAT YOU CAME FOR AND PAY! The memories will last you a lifetime."
