Day 1

Vientiane Arrival

Vientiane – the capital echoes thousands of years proud history with its captivating ancient, modern constructions. Once you land at the airport in Vientiane, our Asia Private Travels local tour guide will meet you at the airport entrance and transfer with you to your hotel.

Meals are on your account and spend the night in Vientiane.
 

Day 2

Vientiane City Tour

Our today tour will take us to the places of interest in Vientiane that will make you fall in love.

The first destination is Vat Phra Keo, which is an astounding temple from 1565. Not just the beautiful style that makes the temple special but the ornaments are also delicate. In the past, the temple used to honor the famous Emerald Buddha image.

Turn to the next temple – Vat Sisaket. The temple is unique with thousands of Buddha images that are carved, stored on the wall. Moreover, when visiting the temple, you will also have a chance to open the book of history from 1818.

Pha That Louang is a temple that preserves well the architect of Laotian since 1566. Through time, there is damage that the temple had suffered so in 1930, the temple was repaired. This temple means significantly to the Laotian and today, the temple becomes a national symbol, which makes people remind of Laos whenever they think of the memorable experience they had here.

Hop on another well-known construction, this time is Patuxay. This is a memorial monument that dated back to 1957. For a long time, the construction has been an important landmark in the city. If you want to have an overview of the city, you can get to the top of the monument and enjoy the panorama. Inside out, the monument is a piece of art. It looks gorgeous with the combination architecture of the Triomphe in Paris and Laos typical style.

Then, we will stop for a busy but exciting time at the Talat Sao market. This market is a typical local market, which is really famous in the city. Take your time wandering around, you can find there are many interesting things and yummy dishes, snacks to bring home.

In the afternoon, let’s discover the Buddha Park, where also an interesting place that tourists should visit. Located 25km from the city, it takes us about 20 – 30 minutes to get there via vehicle. In the Park, there are over 200 statues that are beautifully carved, which are available from all sizes, all height. These statues of Buddha and Hindu are made of concrete, including the gigantic Buddha that is 40 meters long.

You will not only find Buddha statues but also some characters with the shape of humans, Godhead, animals, and monsters. You can also join a funny activity, it is getting inside a 3-meter-high pumpkin through a monster’s mouth and take some nice photos. Moreover, you can also entertain on the floors that decorated as Hell, the Underworld, and Heaven.

Day 3

Vientiane – Vang Vieng

After having breakfast at the hotel, we will get on the vehicle to transfer 3 hours through the scenic path to Vang Vieng to begin our Classic Journey. This city used to be an important military airfield when the country fight against the invaders in the Indochina wars. On the way, you will not only enjoy the beautiful site but also have a glimpse of the local life in the traditional villages and fishing villages.

When reaching Vang Vieng, check-in the hotel and then we will pour out the street at 14:00 pm. We will transfer together to Tham Jung cave, where was the shelter of the people near the southern Meuang Xong village during the war. Move on to the next destination – Tham Loup. This cave is massive, wild and captivating with the features inside, such as beautiful arrays of stalagmites and stalactites, ponds and small plantation. Due to these features, the cave is the place to start a long journey of deep cave exploration.

Late in the afternoon, we will be present at the hotel and have the rest of the time for relaxation.

Day 4

Vang Vieng – Luang Prabang

Coming to the city of Luang Prabang, where the old towns with ancient temples from the past live on. As we start the tour of the historical city, it must be really exciting to you. For about five hours, we will reach the station in Luang Prabang. After arriving in Luang Prabang, we will start the half - day tour in the city with our tour guide. In the afternoon, we will visit the lovely stupa with delicate artifacts – Wat Visoun stupa, the shrine of Wat Aham and Wat Mai with five tiered roofs.

Then, let’s go to Phousi Hill for a lovely view of the city and of the Mekong river by sunset. Reaching to the top, there are 329 steps to complete. Passing through several temples, the path will lead us to a holy, golden Wat Phousi temple at the summit. Enjoy your time before returning to the hotel.

Day 5

Luang Prabang City Tour – Pak Ou Cave

This morning, we continue the classic journey into Luang Prabang, where there are tons of aged - old, historical temples, constructions. First, we will start with Wat Sene and Wat Xieng Thong temples, which are listed as the oldest temples in the city as well as the temples with stunning architecture. Wat Sene Souk Haram is one of the most beautiful temples in Luang Prabang. Its name literally means the "Temple of 100,000 treasures."

And talking about cool decoration, Wat Sene is gorgeous when painting with a deep orche color and gilded with gold. Travel to the confluence of the Mekong and Nam Khan river, you can see there is a beautiful stupa situated - WatXieng Thong. The temple is special with gilded stuccoes and doorways.

The most attractive feature in this stupa is the flamboyant “tree life” with skillfully painted details on the entrance wall. Let's explore this site with Asia Private Travels!

Then, take the typical riverboat to visit the famous caves of Pak Ou, where thousands of statues of Lord Buddha silently sit. The cave has an important religious meaning and also, it provides a nice spot to overlook the mellow Mekong River. Near the cave, exist a village that keep itself a traditional recipe of making rice alcohol - Ban Xang Hai. In the past, people known the village by the image of large store - wine jars that had existed for over 2000 years.

Then, let’s have a walk around Ban Pak Ou Village, which is well-known as a Laotian fishing village on the Mekong River. Not stopping there, we will arrive at Ban Muang Keo Village to see the colorful textiles created on the simple weaving looms. Then, return to the boat to Luang Prabang.

Day 6

Luang Prabang – Khuang Si Waterfall

After breakfast, we start the trip to the National Museum, where was once a glorious king’s palace. Inside the buildings, there are many artifacts that belong to the family of royal, such as musical instruments, photos, and gifts from the dignitaries of the foreign countries.

Later on, we depart from Luang Prabang to a natural site, where the Kuang Si waterfall situated. The transfer will take us about 1 hour through gorgeous views. Khuang Si is listed as one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Laos and the unmissarable spot of any Laos tour. The fall with clear blue water, rock formations, and rock pools that cascading from 5-meter-high water melts the heart of the nature lovers.

Have a swim and funny moments on the fresh cool water of Khuang Si and then, we return to Luang Prabang in the late afternoon. After that, we will travel to Ban Xang Khong village, where spread its fame for producing silk handweaving and traditional Saa Paper.

You will need to prepare a passport with at least 6 months in validity, 2 passport - size photos and cash for the handling fee. Visa fee ranges from $20 - $42 USD depending on your nationality.
