Among all the fascinating places, Wat Sisaket is proud to be on top of the worth visit destination in Vientiane. This temple is famous for being the oldest temple that still preserves in excellent condition the precious silver and porcelain images. Thanks for the temple existence, some glorious scene of the rich past is revealed to the modern world.
After flowing along the river of history in Wat Sisaket, we leave to discover a new fantastic place, which is the Haw Phra Kaeo. This temple is magnificent with undeniable astounding structure, wall patterns, erections, and a spacious courtyard that is home for the frangipani trees. All the beautiful human work is to show respect to the god. Indeed, at this temple, the people sincerely, honestly honor the Emerald Buddha. After that, we will spend our time in Pha That Luang – the gigantic golden stupa, where is best-known for the golden sharp that pierce the clear blue sky. Today, the exciting biking trip exploring Vang Vieng nature is waiting for us ahead. We will arrive in several stunning caves. One of them is the auspicious and venerated “Cave of the Golden Crab” - Tham Phoukham. Inside, the cave is astounding with secret corridors full of stalagmites and stalactites, deep wells, and up-to-80-meter-high chimneys.
Following the west, the trail is rougher and bumpier. The way along Houay San stream is quite narrow, but the scene is quite lovely. We follow the path to Pha Deng, which is also known as the "red cliff." If the weather is on your side, then it will save your energy from carrying the bike through the muddy patches.
The first village on the banks of the Nam Khouang river is now revealed – Phonxay village. From then on, the dirt road that parallels the Nam Khouang river will be easier and smoother. As we reach the crossroads in Ban Nathong Tai, we can see the road that leads to Nam Song Bridge.

The road from Vang Vieng to Luang Prabang is filled with chocolate-box scenery of Laos’ tranquil, authentic countryside. It will take you about 7 – 8 hours to arrive at the destination. Though it is a long drive but en route, we will have plenty of opportunities to visit some gorgeous hill-tribe villages and taking fantastic photos. Check in your hotel in Luang Prabang.

Early birds will have a chance to see the alms giving ceremony – one important religious activity in Luang Prabang. If you would like to watch the dawn, you should come to the recommended place at the crossroads in time, around 05:00am. This place provides a nice spot to enjoy the dawn, and also, you can see the monks from temples walking in the line and receiving the offerings from the Buddhist devotees.
In the morning, our tour group starts going to Phousi Mount, a favorite spot to overlook the panorama of the beautiful city of Luang Prabang.
After that, we go down the mountain to arrive at Vat Xieng Thong, which is also known as the Temple of the Royal City. This temple is not just a stunning construction with skillful patterns, paintings, but it contains a spiritual meaning of the religion.
Next, we head to one temple, which is highlighted by the unique structure of the earliest Lao style – Wat Visoun.
Be built in the 18th century, located near the alluring Royal Palace; Wat Mai is a full-of-art temple, which is also the most gigantic, the most being decorated with expensive ornament. This is our next destination in the Asia Private Travels' itinerary to explore, to learn regarding the art of the previous generations.
Then, we will transfer to one hottest tourist attraction in Laos: the Khuang Si Falls. With crystal blue water and over 5-meter-high, the cascade waterfall, tourists will meld for the unspoiled beauty and can help themselves splashing in the pool of Khuang Si. Moreover, the way getting to Khuang Si is also a pleasant ride, which is through the endless rice paddle field and small rustic villages scattered along the road.

Today, we will join the Mekong cruising tour to get to a more exciting destination. About two hours of scenic cruise, we will arrive in Pak Ou Caves, where is impressive with hundreds of Buddha carvings, statues. In the Pak Ou cave (which means the Ou river’s mouth), it is divided into two parts: the Tham Theung (upper part) and the Tham Ting (lower part). Those caves are lovely to overlook the scene of the mellow part of the Mekong River. After that, we will pass the river to transfer via a car to Nong Khiaw.

When you finish breakfast, get ready to go on a local boat to Muang Ngoi. From the village, it takes us 30 minute to walk to Tam Gang. Tam Gang is astounding, magnificent caves that still remain a natural beauty. Located in the highland, the water-filled caves are massive, with the length up to a few kilometers. Inside, appears beautiful waterfalls and rock formation that is gorgeous to contemplate. During the war, Tam Gang is the hiding place for the villagers and people around the area.
After the visit to the cave, we will carry on 1,5 hours more to Ban Houay Sens. On the way; we will catch the scenic view of fresh green fields and towering limestone cliffs. - peacful part of this Laos tour. When we arrive in the village, we will have a short break. Have a cold drink and relax in the shady spot before we begin the 3-4 hours trekking tour, which will take us through the picturesque forest.
When we reach the village of Ban Kew Khan – a Khmu village with hospitable villagers, we will hold there for a while to learn about the baskets making technique. Besides, you can choose to stroll around the rustic, authentic village to catch some photos of the town, the people, or enjoy the fresh, lukewarm water in the natural spring. After that, we will gather at a local house to enjoy the local meal as well as talking about the history, the lifestyle of the people here. Enjoy your time and spend the night at the two - community family house.
Today, we will join the 4-hour trekking tour, start after breakfast. The tour will head to Ban Hadsapeuy on the Ou River. The tracks are lifted in Ban Kew Khan, so you will be a bit tired, and after that, it is more comfortable with the descending road, which leads us through the beautiful jungles and dreamy fields. Finally, we will arrive at one lovely stream.
From now on, we can trek in shady since the trail along the riverside is full of trees.Let's immerse yourself in the natural beauty with Asia Private Travels! Then, our journey becomes tougher when we reach a small group of hills to Ban Hadsapeuy or Ban So Chem. Right here, stop and refill your energy with a fresh coconut before we embark on a local boat to sail upstream.
When arriving in Muang Khua, keep on the trek to a border town, which nicely located on the bank of the Nam Ou river. As it is in the late afternoon, check-in for your room at the hotel, and then, you can relax after one exhaust but memorable trekking day.
If there is any reason to wake up early in the morning, it would be the Binthabat ceremony. In the event, you can see hundreds of monks walking through the town, the street in slow procession. You can stand right on the balcony of your hotel room and watch the ceremony, which begins at 5:45 AM.
