Lao Poet Hotel

A late review from June 2019 visit (better late than never). The Lao Poet Hotel is a charming and unique hotel in the middle of Vientiane. My short visit was nothing but exceptional in every way. The room was clean and well decorated. The mini bar was well stocked. A great escape from the heat after a day of temple touring. I appreciated the kindness and smiles of the staff. Highly recommended.

A true originality already as you go up the majestic staircase from the street (there is also an elevator!), with a modern jungle space for breakfast on your left and an Indochina-discovery-spirit reception atmosphere where excellent FRENCH and English are spoken. Spacious rooms are exquisitely decorated in dark saturated tones (a little more light would be appreciated though), the bathroom is visible through an inside window, making you feel completely isolated from the street. Objects gathered all over the (Asian) world by the owner's wife (or is she the owner?) in just the right amount and style give this place a special feel that one only want to extend. Breakfast is gorgeous, served at the table by a wonderful elderly lady who lived in Montpellier. The only problem was the 'loss' of two small items in the left luggage. The swimming pool is a delight at sunset with a view over the roofs and temples of the old city (forget it at other times, as there are no umbrellas). The central location and free parking add to the completeness of the service for this one-year old hotel.

My wife and I stayed at Lao Poet for 3 nights. Really large room and made to order breakfast were great. We like showers and the soaking tube with hose shower was not perfect for us. The staff was wonderful and the location was Central to our activities.

1. Location: Great! In a short, quiet (safe) lane off the main streets of Vientiane. Easy access to sites and food. Awesome location! 2. Amenities: Beautifully decorated hotel, modern with well-placed Laotian art pieces; very photogenic. Roof-top pool is lovely and great for relaxation. Breakfast is delicious! 3. Room: Just as beautifully put together as the rest of the hotel. Roomy, with great bathroom/toilet. TV with good channels selection in English. 4. Staff: Friendly, polite, helpful; speaks great English. Full marks here as well!

The very new Lao Poet is located on a nice quiet street in the heart of the old town. It's within easy walking distance of all the great restaurants, cafes, shopping, Wats, spas, and the night market. The staff are very charming and eager to assist in booking tours or other needs. The 3rd-floor spa is small yet the service is good. Enjoy cocktails on the 8th-floor roof poolside or in the open-air bar. Breakfast is fresh, plentiful and made-to-order, with generous coffee and croissant refills. The rooms are spacious, air-conditioned, and clean. Relax in your own bath after a long day trekking around town - if you don't mind just a pull shade covering the glass wall separating the bath and the bed rooms. Each room has water, robes, slippers, electrical outlets in the nighstands... overall, a lovely and personal treat in the heart of town.

A modern well appointed hotel and cheerful staff... a big comfortable room , an extra chair would be great for those early morning coffee... spacious dining room with a well presented breakfast ...like that it is tucked down a lane , quiet , but easily accessible ..

This is a wonderful hotel. It is spotlessly clean, breakfast is delightful and served by charming polite staff. Reception- very helpful. We hired the bikes and staff took the trouble to give us a map and explain where to go. We were unlucky with poor weather for the first 3 days but were so happy that we had chosen such an amazing hotel with a fantastic rooftop infinity pool.

The stay was relaxed within walking distance of the center of Luang Prabang. We liked the room and the breakfast was good. I remember the staff were very helpful and arranged vehicles when needed including transport to and from the airport.

This hotel is everything it says it is: it is beautiful, with well appointed, thoughtfully decorated main areas and spacious, lovely rooms. We stayed in a deluxe room with a bath. The pool area is a stunning refuge from the outside world. When I first saw it with it's infinity pool that seems to strech into the surrounding city view all the way to the river, I smiled, and I saw others do the same after me. The service is good, the staff professional, and the manager was very helpful when I booked the room and there were no problems with the reservation when we checked in. We had a memorable Christmas eve dinner on the rooftop. I liked the hotel so much actually that I didn't do all that much sightseeing in Vientiene! This may also be due to end of trip sightseeing burnout, but the hotel and especially the rooftop pool area, was so alluring that it was a destination in itself.

My weekend getaway at the Lao Poet Hotel was perfect! I appreciate that the staff accommodated my check-in request (a bowl of a fruit I can't get at home but know they have in Laos!), and the welcome drink was very tasty. The room itself was comfortable -- the bed was great, the shower had good water pressure/temperature, and the soundproofing was good enough that I, a light sleeper, had no trouble dozing off. The hotel is situated conveniently near a good selection of restaurants and cafes, and we were within walking distance of most tourist sites. Enjoying the sunset on the roof was spectacular, too. If I'm ever in Laos again, I absolutely won't hesitate to book a second stay at the Lao Poet.
