I was so relieved when I walked through those sliding glass doors at the Crowne Plaza Hotel to have lunch.
There was spaciousness, modern design, a lovely spiral staircase and of course, an understated elegance of which I have come to truly appreciate in this world of tiny homes, posh-tels and Airbnbs. I chose their restaurant—Mosaic for their Western menu and more vegetarian choices. I was delighted to chose a beetroot salad (I forgot to take a picture of) that had feta (which, sadly I can’t eat anymore) pecans and sweet potatoes with a honey balsamic dressing.
They served toasted warm bread and a butter (I had to pass on that too but only because of my non-dairy diet) that smelled delicious.
I broke all my constraints when I chose my dessert. Because they had excellent ingredient signage in front of each dessert, I chose the lessor if 8 evils as it did not have egg and it was dark chocolate. The coffee came catered with soy milk and the caramel chocolate cake was absolutely sinful! The staff was kind, very attentive and spoke pretty good English.
I might have saved money by staying at a smaller hotel, but when it comes to eating fresh plant-based food in a small Asian country, sometimes, more is actually More!! Of course, they charged my phone, offered me a clinch to rest on while I waited to depart for the airport. Next time, I will book this hotel!
