Today shall be spent on discovering the charms of Bangkok – city of golden temples and the pride of Thai. Bangkok is the way the rest of the world called the city after an ancient boisterous central area. The actual name of Bangkok comprises dozens of words that represents its magnificence and gilded features. Locals Thai call their capital “Krung Thep Maha Nakhon” for short.

The first stop of today is the Royal Grand Palace that comprises three main sites: The Royal Palace, The Royal Office and a complex of pagodas (Wat in Thai) constructed during the 1770s. Now under the reign of King Maha Vajiralongkorn (Rama X), most of the kingdom’s important events take place here. The main feature of the royal pagoda complex is Wat Phra Kaew, also known as the Temple of Emerald Buddha. The site is well-known not only for its fascinating unique Buddhism architecture style of Thailand but also for being home to the gilded Buddha statue made out of emerald. Despite thousands of pagodas and temples in Thailand, Wat Phra Kaew’s sacred value in Thai conception is so significant that they built a mile of walls surrounding the site since it is believed that if the statue is stolen or harmed, their dynasty will doom.

Next to the Grand Palace is Wat Pho – famous for being the most ancient and massive pagoda in Bangkok and home to more than a thousand statues of Buddha and one huge gold Buddha.

Next up, we shall embark a boat and cruise along the river of Chao Phraya, listening to the ambience of life in Bangkok. Stop en route at Wat Arun located on the bank of Chao Phraya River, one of the most charming pagodas in Bangkok featuring unique architecture that differs from all other pagodas.
Wrap up today’s trip with a visit to Wat Traimit that possesses another massive gold statue of Buddha with no less fascinating architecture and historical values than any other sites.

Be transferred back to the hotel. Tonight is free at your own leisure. Dive in Bangkok at night in your own way.

Indulge yourself with tasty breakfast at the hotel then be escorted to our next major destination of the tour – Ayutthaya Historical Park in the ancient capital of Ayutthaya. Once the heart of the Ayutthaya Empire that witnessed a glorious summit of Thai history, the city is left with countless ancient temples featuring hand-constructed architecture. Ayutthaya Historical Park was recognized as World’s Heritage Site by UNESCO.

The first site in the complex we pay a visit today is Wat Phu Khao Thong – a huge religious work standing in the middle of green paddy fields featuring a shimmering chedi plated with gold on top of the pagoda.

Proceed to Wat Phra Si Sanphet as the most sacred temple of Ayutthaya and its three high towers rising parallel in Ceylonese style. Next up, visit Vihara Phra Mongkhon Bophit, the pagoda where it stands the copper statue of Buddha posturing the defeat of Mara. This work also ranks as one of the biggest statues of Buddha in the country.
Another gilded site of Buddhist pilgrims in Ayutthaya is Wat Lokaya Sutha in which it portrays a giant Buddha reclining peacefully. The statue is the most sacred relics among many other valuable treasures in Wat Lokaya Sutha.

Return to Bangkok. Stop en route at the Royal Summer Palace located in Bang Pa-in district which is a favourite retreat destination of the royal family. This Summer Palace is a complex of architecture combinations of European, Khmer, Chinese and traditional Thai styles.

The rest of the day is on your own. Feel free to explore lesser known parts of Bangkok or look for some lovely souvenirs to bring home.
