After enjoying breakfast at your hotel, we'll head to Yangon airport for a short flight to Nyaung U (Bagan), where you'll be greeted and escorted by our local guide. We'll begin our sightseeing with a visit to the lively Nyaung U Market within Old Bagan, where you'll get to experience the colorful local culture and witness daily life in action.
From there, we'll head to the gold leaf Shwezigon Pagoda to learn about Burmese Buddhist customs. Afterward, we'll visit the stunning Ananda Temple, admiring the beautiful view of the temples along the way. This temple's unique cruciform shape, with terraced landings leading to a pagoda shrouded by a hit (umbrella or top ornament), is typical of many temples in Myanmar.
Then, we'll explore the fascinating Manuha Temple, one of the earliest structures in Bagan, built in 1067 by captive Mon King Manuha. Inside, you'll see three images of seated Buddhas and an image of Buddha entering Nirvana.
Finally, we'll end our day by visiting the awe-inspiring Shwesandaw Pagoda, the second-tallest structure in Bagan. Take in the incredible sunset views surrounded by five terraces capped with a cylindrical stupa adorned with a sparkling umbrella.
We'll then return to your hotel to finish the 2nd day of this Myanmar tour package.
*Note: Climbing on temples and pagodas isn't allowed.
