  • We will pick you up from your hotel in Luang Prabang (the hotel on your arrangement) and drive to XiengKhuang - the area once devastated by American bombings between 1964 and 1973. These back roads are a great way to explore the real Laos. There are few other travelers, mostly rural dwellers who are just as interested in finding out about our lives as we are in theirs.

    The drive is quite long but Asia Private Travels can make some stops at our pleasure, to stretch our legs and take some wonderful photographs. You will have the chance to discover the unique architecture, culture, tradition, language, etc. of the 3 ethnic groups on the way.

    Upon arrival of this classic journey in Laos, we go to the "Plain of Jars"'s first site, a spectacular archaeological site where the plateau is covered in hundreds of enormous stone jars. The origin and significance of these jars are still up for debate; the tallest jar is 3.25 meters.

    After breakfast, we will begin with a visit to the local market, well-known to propose local special exotic products.

    We will arrive at some villages - where the Hmong hill tribe and Thai Dam people are living and the old capital of Muang Khoun province.

    Our trip will head out to the 2nd and 3rd Plain of Jars fields, where you have a chance to enjoy more beautiful views and great experiences. This Laos tour wouldn't be fulfilled without a visit to local villages and learn about their culture and lifestyle along the way. Then we return to Phonsavanh by late afternoon.

    After breakfast, we will come back to Luang Prabang. Have a sightseeing in Phonsavanh and then the craft workshop specializing will be the next activity in Sericulture (Mulberry shop, closed on Sunday) where you can learn step by step the production of weaving, spinning, dyeing, etc.

    After a couple of driving hours, we go through the mountainous jungle inhabited by ethnic groups.

    Transfer to your hotel in Luang Prabang. (Hotel in Luang Prabang not included, please contact us if you need us to help you arrange a hotel in Luang Prabang)
