Our Coloniale room’s name is based on the French word embracing the occupation of Cambodia from 1863 to 1953. Reminiscent of the crumbling villas of Europe, we’ve preserved the walls’ and ceiling’s original painted finish under layers of glaze, and styled the room with antiques and distressed period pieces from the IndoChine era. The cooling floor tiles are original. Featuring an ultra-cofmortable king-size mattress made of all-natural fibres, cotton and linen sheets, down pillows. The en-suite bathroom has a spacious shower with instant-hot water, and walls decorated with a Khmer graffitti motif. Plus private balcony to gaze on Battambang’s leisurely street life. Free Wi-Fi, air con and ceiling fan.

Indochine room

Indochine is based on the French word for its Southeast Asian colonial empire. The room’s painted finish walls reflect the ageing exterior of coloinal buildings facing the street, juxtaposed with a very contemporary pink grass cloth wallpaper. We’ve preserved the bathroom’ original wall coating under layers of glaze, and added a Khmer graffitti motif. Rooms styled with antiques and distressed period pieces. The cooling floor tiles are original. Featuring an ultra-comfortable queen-size mattress made of all-natural fibres, pure linen sheets, down pillows. The en-suite bathroom has a spacious shower with instant-hot water, and walls decorated with a Khmer graffitti motif. Plus semi-private balcony to gaze on Battambang’s leisurely street life. Orientale room

Orientale room

No of Rooms: 0  |  Area: 23M2  |  Bed: double/twin

Our Orientale room’s name is taken from the French word for the Orient, or Northeast Asia and particularly China and Japan. Our recent renovations are inspired by the Japanese concept of wabi-sabi, embracing and glorifying transience and natural ageing. We’ve preserved the walls’ and ceiling’s rough grey concrete finish under layers of glaze, and styled the room with antiques and distressed period pieces from the Orient. The floor is very contemporary, of highly glazed polished cement. Orientale features an antique hand-carved Chinese matrimonial bed, replete with an extra-large single/twin 7-layered wool and cotton futon mattress with latex core, cotton and linen sheets, down pillows. Of special note is the 7-panel Meiji-era screen along the room’s back wall. The en-suite bathroom has a shower with instant-hot water, and black matt walls. Plus private balcony to gaze on Battambang’s leisurely street life. Free high speed Wi-Fi, and ceiling fan an air con.

Absolutely beautiful place. Robert and Morrison are amazing hosts and we really did enjoy their hospitality, delicious breakfast, drinks and nibbles. Thanks for the wonderful time we had staying with you in Battambang

Our 4 night stay at Bric a Brac was absolutely wonderful. From the unique colonial architecture, caring service from the staff, central location, cute and interesting gift shop and the delicious breakfast really nothing was lacking or could have been better. The highlight however was our cocktails and snacks on the last night with Morrison and Robert (they had been traveling the previous days so we hadn’t met them). My wife, friend and I had a hilarious and interesting conversation that felt as if we were long time friends. The cheese and snack platter we ordered was also amazing. We will definitely be back

I spent a couple of nights at the Bric a Brac hotel in Battambang this week and loved it. The hotel is located in the centre of Battambang and you can get everywhere you want by foot. The hotel is quirky and very boutique. There is so much to look at and the wonderfully eccentric couple, Robert and Morrison will be sure to greet you with open arms and tend to your every need. The rooms have been designed and decorated by the couple and the choice of fine wine and cheese is the best in Battambang. The staff are friendly and kind and Mr Handsome is quite a character - very attentive! The team very kindly arranged out onward transport to Siem Reap which is about 3.5 hours drive away. A memorable and enjoyable experience

Can't recommend Bric a Brac enough. The staff's attention to detail makes this a standout in the world of boutique hotels. Despite a late arrival in Siem Reap, a car was waiting to whisk us the 3 hours to Battambang. And when we arrived, while the staff was closing up the cafe/lounge, they welcomed us like old friends, with fresh coconuts and a glass of wine. Breakfast the next day was a relaxing hour on our balcony, with tasty treats and refills of coffee and tea. The staff arranged cars, provided walking maps of town and passes to the pool at a local resort and recommended restaurants. And the owners, Robert and Morrison, introduced us to local monks, shared their love of cooking and art and joined us in exploring the Battambang Arts Festival. The reason we went back to Battambang was because of the care from the staff, and friendship of the owners of Bric a Brac from our previous trip

Bric-a-Brac is truly a boutique hotel. Only 3 rooms - each unique, lovely linens, breakfast on your balcony as you watch the monks proceed below or downstairs. I loved sitting on the corner during Happy Hour watching the locals return home. The manager, I apologize as I have forgotten how to spell his name, is fantastic. The owners were away in Phnom Penh and he did an amazing job looking after us. From the moment we arrived he ensured we had everything we needed.

We where lucky to stay for two nights at this wonderful little hotel. The hosts Morrison and Robert are very kind and they have great inside suggestions for their guests. Their Cambodian staff is very friendly and you get to know the country a bit better by talking to them. The hotel is right an the old center close to the main market, nicely decorated. We loved this place. Visit

Staying at this rare gem of a B&B was truly one of highlights of our recent visit to Cambodia. From the moment you walk in to the moment you leave you feel like a member of their extended family. The staff is fantastic, caring and a joy to interact with. They helped us plan some amazing day trips with Mr. Tha...a tuk-tuk driver who spoke great English and is very knowledgeable of the area. The morning breakfasts on the balcony were great. In addition, Robert and Morrison, aside from being great hosts, were a repository of local knowledge which helped shape our travel experiences in Cambodia...including the culinary ones in Siem Reap and Phnom Penh. They also made sure our driver took us to Banteay Chhmar on our way back to Siem Reap...It’s not to be missed. And note to file...the scarves they sell in their shop were of the highest quality we found in Cambodia...so load up...

A real gem. Location is ideal right on the middle of this charming former French colonial town, so perfect to explore Battambang and its surroundings area. The rooms are sumptuously decorated and the owners are excellent hosts. Breakfast is fantastic

It is the people that made our brief stay at Bric-a-Brac hotel a wonderful experience. Robert and Morrison are fantastic hosts. Morrison even made time in his morning to view our wedding photos with my wife. The hotel staff is very pleasant and helpful. The rooms are well decorated and there is no such thing as a bad room at Bric-a-Brac. We felt as if we where in New Orleans, with the room decor and architecture. The hotel is located in the Colonial area of Battambang and you can walk to many restaurants and the local market. While waiting for dinner, we enjoyed our drinks at the sidewalk bar, watching the people walk past and our conversation with Mr. Handsome (smile). You can see that the room decor was carefully thought out in every detail, even if there was a power outage, with the addition of a battery-operated fan in the room. One can have breakfast in the room or on the balcony and watch as the area comes to life. Such a wonderful breakfast and the best hot chocolate. Sadly, we only stayed one night, but we will book the hotel in future visits to Battambang
