We stayed at the Victoria Palace in Mandalay for 3 nights. It was centrally located within a long walk to the Royal Palace. The reception staff were very pleasant and check in was quick.
The room was clean, spacious and amply furnished. The beds were comfortable. There was a desk and chair, two comfy occasional chairs, and a large wardrobe with plenty of space for clothes storage, a large flat screen TV, a large mirror, a night table, bedside reading lamps and a safe.
There was a window on both sides of the room, a rarity. The bathroom was large as well, with an exceedingly comfortable bathtub. A number of toiletries were provided. The air conditioner worked well, with out freezing us, and was quite quiet.
Though others had complained of noise, it was not an issue during our stay. What did bother me were the lights left on til 5 AM or so, in the passageway outside our room, with inadequate blackout curtains. The hotel had a surprisingly good gym.
There was a treadmill and a bike, plenty of free weights, three excellent weight machines, a weight bench, and plenty of room. In addition there was an adjacent bathroom, clean towels and bottled water handy. We did not use the outdoor pool, though it looked inviting.
Unusually, due to the small space the pool was tucked into, there was no room to lounge poolside.
The included breakfasts were a treat.
There was a wide variety of foods (yogurt, an omelette station, soup, cereal, breads, fruits, nuts, etc.) to choose from, sufficient even for a gluten free diet. We also had two dinners at the hotel and found the food delicious, the service attentive and the prices reasonable.
