We’ve just completed a 5 night stay at this riverside property in Bagan. It’s my third visit to the area and a fourth for my wife. We obviously love it and this time we brought another couple with us for their first visit.
We looked long and hard at all the available hotel properties near Old Bagan before settling on Bagan Thande. Good choice. We had two rooms with a garden view that were quite near the restaurant. Although we could hear the puppet show in early evening, noise was never an issue.
Breakfast was buffet style with an egg station, a cereal/yoghurt bar, hot/cold food area and an assortment of fruit. Coffee and tea were a serve yourself affair, which I much prefer. Asking for a cup every time you need one is not for me.
We had dinner every night at the Acacia Restaurant. They had a fairly large menu. Our group tried quite a few dishes. All were well prepared and served by charming ladies. We found the people in Myanmar to be friendly and helpful everywhere.
If, like the four of us, you’re stuck trying to find a place to stay in Old Bagan, look into staying at this property. Nice people. Wonderful service. It’s the most beautiful setting under magnificent Acacia trees right by the Irrawaddy.
