We cruised on the RV Laos Pandaw downstream at low river level. The scenery and experience of the fast flowing Upper Mekong was absorbing, requiring skilful navigation by our very capable captain, a most remarkable man, who also undertook to deliver our care package to a poor family we had experienced. The boat was top class in all respects. Ten cabins on lower deck, well fitted out with comfortable bedding and first rate bathroom and shower. Lots of hot water with good pressure, also quality towels and amenities. Bedding was comfortable and aircon very efficient. Ambience on the upper deck was both comfortable and relaxed. I spent many hours just watching wonderful scenery go past. The food was hard to fault, as other guests have noted and we really enjoyed the local, rather than western dishes but everything was appetising and skilfully presented. Draft Lao beer was appreciated as were cocktails with the interesting ‘local spirits.’ The nightly cocktail was also a welcome surprise. The BBQ on a sandbank was fun. The itinerary was varied and well balanced. Our only negative was that the on board guide, while most obliging and communicative, generally provided superficial commentary on the country. We would have liked to learn more about how village communities interact, but his answers lacked depth and can be found in any basic guide book. We were well equipped with books so did much of our own exploring, which was fine. We appreciate that political commentary in Lao is a sensitive topic

This is an excellent cruise down the Mekong River, with two cultural excursions every day. The rooms were great with ensuites and comfy beds and the best part was the happy hour whilst catching up with fellow passengers about the days activities

The crew and service and professionalism is beyond words to be quiet honest. Id like to thank Stuart Country Manager who travelled part way with us we were very lucky to have him as he is so informative and went out of his way to assist an elderly couple to seek medical assistance at our next stop when one became ill. Also Neaung and Noo spelling maybe not right they know looked after us and treated us like family. If you are thinking of doing any of the trips Pandaw offers you will not be disappointed and like us you will go back for more
