The ship cruises early this morning on the beautiful narrow Tonle River to Kampong Tralach. Along the way, the lush vegetation around is like a scene from a jungle-exploring movie. Meanwhile, breakfast is brought on, and then we anchor for an exciting Tonle exploration.

After reaching the shore by a small wooden boat, you can see the Cacophonous kids are smiling happily when taking their cattle to a river for a bath. Up next, we will make a stop at the Green School, which is sponsored partly by the Heritage Line. The lifestyle around the beautiful Tonle river is captured in detail via an ox cart ride – local vehicles that will deliver to you a sense of authentic, rustic. Then, we head back to the boat and be the audience of the interesting traditional Khmer fashion show. Enjoy lunch served after that.

Next, Kampong Chhnang is our destination. This place is named as Cambodia’s "water world," where is home to a great number of houses on stilts. This place raises the diverse plants as well as water creatures in the region. And for this, Kampong Chhnang is probably the most interesting cruising destination throughout Cambodia.

We enter the shore for a further discovery; we will head to the nearby rural village via a minibus. Upon arrival, take a walk to feel the rhythm of life here while the guide provides information about the village’s specialties of making Khmer pottery and palm sugar. Afterwards, pay a visit to the floating villages and wetland areas, where the local life attaches directly with water. We will then explore the island and visit the workshops by tuk-tuk to learn how silk is made, which is from the period of raising tinny silkworms to collect silk cord and weaving into high-quality silk cloth.

Just after the silk village visit, we will go through an interesting lecture about the “Geography of the Mekong and Tonle Sap” through an experience guide’s words. Then, there is a blessing ceremony onboard practised by a monk wishing happiness and safety during the trip. Then, it is time to start the engine; the boat will head to a gorgeous small rural village that lies along the Mekong River – Angkor Ban. With traditional houses, hospitable indigenous and plain lifestyle that only attaches a little of modernization, the village is traditionally beautiful and the best of all, it makes the visitors feel like they are actually back in time.

As we have done all the itineraries of the day, there is a cocktail party that is ready for us on the riverbank. We proceed to cruise, and after a while, dinner will tasty dishes are served. Then, the boat will anchor at the riverbank in Kampong Cham overnight.

After that, enjoy lunch on board.

In the afternoon, again, we pay a visit to a religious place, but this time, there is a special feature that makes this place interesting. Wat Nokor is a small monastery but attractive with colorful walls and structure. This is a home of the monks; hence you will have a chance to have a small chat with them. Near the monastery, there is a rustic bamboo bridge that connects the mainland and the island, which is only observable in low-water season. Every year when the water level drops, the locals gather again to reconstruct the bridge.

From Phnom Penh City we took a taxi south to a place called Kien Svay. This was another world compared to the hustle and bustle of the city. We told the driver that we wanted to visit a "floating restaurant" on the river - he nodded in agreement but actually didn't understand. After he made a phone call back to our hotel we sort of got on the right track - the difficulty the was "which" restaurant? As we drove down to the river area, along a laneway, people would come rushing out, apparently saying "come to my restaurant" but each premise was unnamed and was more like a large house - not knowing which to attend we just took pot-luck and stopped at one. Once there - we are not talking luxury here - we were escorted down to the river and to a floating ramp walkway which took us to a floating open-sided thatch roofed "bungalow". There were no seats, just a mat to sit on. Which was great. We were handed a menu but couldn't read a word of it. Luckily a local customer saw our dilemma and translated for us. We sat down to a plate of king prawns, an unknown fish dinner and some beer. A "canoe" dropped buy trying to sell us refreshments and souvenirs and an offer of a short boat trip along the river. We realised that after the meal one was meant to relax in the coolness of the river in a hammock - to spend the afternoon relaxing or snoozing.

Take a walk down to the riverside during the evenings and see the real Cambodia. Friends , families , lovers all come to the riverbank during the sunset to gather for a meal and chat among friends. The sunset provides a great photo opportunity with Phnom Penh city in the background. There are lots of restaurants along the banks to cater to various taste buds so take at stroll here for dinner to wind down your day.
