Highlights of Itinerary:

Welcome aboard on the luxurious Mekong Dawn Cruise!

We will arrange a private transfer to pick you up from your hotel in Phnom Penh. Your arrival on the cruise will be welcomed by the cruise captain as well as the whole cabin crew with heartwarming smiles and refreshing drinks.

As you are checking in, the ship will start its engine and set sail on the mightly Tonle Sap River and head south. It’s time to leave the bustling city behind and blend in the life of the countryside region in Oudong.

In the early afternoon, we will reach Koh Chen and drop the anchor for villages visiting. Koh Chen is the age-old capital of Udong which is famous for the handiness in bronze- and silversmithing of the craftsmen.

Thereafter, take a short transfer and prepare for the trek to the peak of Udong mountain. From the top of the mountain, you will be able to seize the panoramic view of various stupas, tombs, monuments, and especially the spectacular sunset on the horizon.

The moment you get back on board is the time we leave to Kampong Tralach.

Feast with the first delicious dinner on the Mekong Dawn Cruise.

  • Meals:
    Lunch, Dinner

Arriving in Kampong Tralach, take your time to enjoy the picturesque riverscape with quaint wooden houses and normal daily life of the local people. The cruise hails amongst lushing green paddy fields, and from there, you will try on an old-school vehicle - an ox ride through the countryside region in Cambodia. Slow down your pace in your journey when passing by the images of Buddha to show your respect.

After the fascinating ox ride, you will return to the Mekong Dawn Cruise for refreshments and getting back on our sailing schedule.

When sailing along the Tonle Sap River, the scenes of attractive floating villages, skillful fishermen, and lovely children with their smiles on their faces will absolutely add a little poetic to the journey to Kampong Chhnang.

Time to jump on a smaller boat to make it easier to travel into more shallow water. Dock at a local port and you’ll be taken to pay a visit to a popular pottery village in town. Though being seen all over the land of Cambodia, it can still be such an amazing opportunity to witness such sophisticated work of art under the skillful hands of the craftsmen.

Thereafter, you can choose between a bicycle or a tuk-tuk to discover the hidden charms of this rural area behind those palm trees and across the fields.

Head back to the Mekong Dawn Cruise to catch the last ray of sunlight upon the riverbank and enjoy a tasty dinner.

Hang out at the bar and enjoy a romantic night on board surrounded by the spectacular riverscape.

As a new day begins, you will find yourself arriving at the peaceful town of Chnouk Tru. Breakfast has already been served on board. On this day, you will switch to the smaller boat again to get to Chnouk Tru floating village. The people in this village have spent their entire life living close to the water of Tonle Sap Lake. It is true that everything here floats, from houses, gardens to the school for the children. We make a turn to Stung Sean River to reach Kompong Thom.

We stop en route for a light lunch and proceed to the Siem Reap City’ center on private transportation for more than an hour. The cruise tour finishes in Siem Reap by afternoon.

The organization of the trip is well thought out with visits to essential sites, discovering very specific and enriching activities. Navigation is a strong point with two nights spent on the boat. This allows everyone to share a pleasant and quiet moment. The Cruise and catering section is just perfect, all with an attentive, kind and helpful crew.

We spent 3 days / 2 nights on this boat, during a cruise starting from Phnon Penh and ending at Kampong Chhnang, after having 'pushed' to Tonle Sap lake in order to visit a floating village. Everything was absolutely perfect. Our cabin on the upper deck was not luxurious, but clean and provided all the necessary comfort. The bed was a real Queen Size, the air conditioning was efficient and silent, the shower hot with sufficient water. The meals were local, but not spicy (in the 'hot' sense), and always excellent. The staff was wonderful, kind and helpful, and the visit to the floating village in a small motor boat was much nicer than what you can see from Siem Reap. This cruise exceeded our expectations, and we would definitely recommend it.

We had the best time with the most thoughtful crew. The room is very beautiful with a really unique private room. The food is real khmer and the menu was chosen by Sopheap. I cannot say enough about this woman. She leaned back to make sure we had a full and wonderful experience; . including the individual driver who takes us to the next destination when we finish the journey. Her daughter is a copilot and you can tell that she has a knack for traveling. She gave us information about her city (Phnom Penh), asked our questions about schools, etc. and even asked us. She has small marshmallow snacks that she shares with us.

Travelling on the Mekong Dawn from Phnom Penh was a great way to see local sights and understand the lifestyle of so many people live who on and around the river. Our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. He was able to give us a real insight into the lives of Cambodians. He was assisted by the rest of the crew who managed everything and nothing was too much trouble. The efficient air con and refreshing drinks were much appreciated. The food was fantastic. Thank you so much to our guide Samphora, in particular for making our trip one to remember.
